CALLING ALL MONTA VISTA PARENTS, STUDENTS AND STAFF.As you must have all read from April′s email, our district, FUHSD, is in urgent, DIRE need of passing the upcoming parcel tax. PHONE BANK:
Monta Vista has been assigned 3 phone bank days the heart of the campaign. We need phone bank volunteers urgently parents, teachers, administrators, students together can help this vital cause! There will be a thorough training, education of the issues, and a script, reminding our voters to VOTE.
PHONE BANK DETAILS:
- Dates for Monta Vista: (1) Monday, March 22, (2) Tuesday, April 6, (3) Monday, April 19
- Venue: Measure B headquarters − B′HIVE, 1309 S. Mary Avenue (upstairs), Sunnyvale
- Time: 6−8.30 pm (as long as you can make it)

- What if you are free on another day: Please feel free to volunteer for any of the days you can do.
PRECINCT WALKS:
Parents, Students, staff and concerned citizens will be walking our community to help inform voters about Measure B. Refreshments will be available. We need over 250 volunteers for each precinct walk so If you would like to walk with other members of your local community, then please choose one or both of the date(s) below.

We need 50 people per school − 250 total. Mainly adults. This day we will be knocking on doors and speaking with likely yes voters.
April 24, 2010
We need 100 people per school − 500 total. Adults and kids. This will be a quicker process, and we can utilize many students.This day we will be placing door hangers (reminder cards) on homes, but there will be no knocking on doors, just ″hang and go!″

This is a mail−in election! Think of this as a ″Spring Election″! Ballots will reach you around April 5, and need to be mailed by April 28 to guarantee receipt by May 4.

CAREER DAY INFO & REQUESTS
CAREER DAY PACKETS: Tuesday March 16 - Request from Sally Erickson & Miriam Taba to create Career Day Packets for Students, Teachers, and Speakers.

CAREER DAY FOOD DONATION REQUESTS: Chair Anita Krishnan
- 10 bags of ″Cuties″ (the small tangerines)
- 20 cases (24 bottles or the 35 Costco bottles) of water
- 240 pieces of Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake (easy recipe attached) .
The parents who are planning to donate these items can email Anita and I′ll give them drop off information. If anyone needs further support or advice for baking the cheesecake, they can contact Cyndi O′Leary at 408-996-9370.
DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD MEETING IN MV ON MAR 16
It′s in our own backyard. Tuesday, March 16, in the library at 6.30 pm! Some of our students will be felicitated! Please do attend! The board president is our very own Bill Wilson!
FOUNDATION CRAB FEED APRIL 2
The FUHS Foundation Crab Feed is Friday, April 2nd from 5:30-8:30 at De Anza College. Dinner includes all-you-can-eat crab along with a vegetarian version. There will be music, and live and silent auctions. Proceeds benefit all 5 high schools by funding School Loop and Naviance. Tickets are $40 before April 2nd, and $50 at the door. ALCOHOL POISONING EDUCATION PRESENTATION − March 9, 6.30−7.30 pm
HOMESTEAD HIGH: Debbie Allen lost her daughter, Shelby Lyn Allen, on December 20, 2008 to acute alcohol poisoning. Dedicated to educating people about the dangers of alcohol poisoning, Debbie will be speaking to parents at Homestead High School on Tuesday, March 9. Please join us for this powerful, informative event! Shelby′s Rules, An Alcohol Poisoning Education Presentation by Debbie Allen, March 9, 2010, Homestead High School Library, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Shelby′s story also inspired the final episode of the hit series ″ER″ on April 2, 2009.
STUDENT STRESS PRESENTATION: MV PSYCHOLOGIST − MAR 23, 7.30 PM, LIBRARY: A Parent Seminar will follow the PTSA meeting with MV School Psychologist, Theresa Wilson, who will speak about student stress and ways parents can help their children manage it. More details to follow.

Please do note: Due to Monta Vista being assigned April 6 as one of our Measure B phone bank dates (the same date as our PTSA elections), we have decided to postpone our elections to our regular meeting on April 27th. We think that helping Measure B succeed is far more important! We will post the new board nominees and announce them during the March 23 meeting, with more than 30 days notice.
